exotic DNA species test
We test for exotic species such as members of the big cat family. Our big cat tests cover all members of the family including domestic and wild cat. We have detected the presence of Panthera in UK and also Lynx in southern England.
We also have made specific bespoke tests to narrow down subspecies type on specimens. If you have a particular species you would like to test for contact bats@warwick.ac.uk.

Sample types
Samples are usually scat, although hair or bones also work. We do also test historic specimens such as taxidermy skin or claw samples. Swabs of predated carcasses are also possible. If you need a swabbing kit contact us at bats@warwick.ac.uk. It is best to send samples in small plastic tubes in a jiffy back to the address shown on the left.
Price rates
This test differs to the others in that we routinely test for other species along with the exotic species to discount those as other possible DNA sources, depending on the context. Consequently, these tests are more involved and may include bespoke test design. Note prices below do not include VAT.
